Water resistance is measured at a static or motionless state. As the gauge is moved in or against water, such as from the motion of driving against rain, washing with a hose or pressure washer, pressure is added from the velocity. While you may be driving at 65 mph or simply washing your bike at surface level, your gauge may be experiencing forces equal to 3 BAR (ATM). Don’t trust simple waterproof / weatherproof (aka: shower proof) statements without ATM ratings. That’s why all Formotion/Citizen movement clocks and thermometers are rated to 3 ATM (5 ATM - Signature Series) waterproof and we are the only gauges on the market that are!
